Dr. S. Sampath Kumar is an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of CSE (Cybersecurity) at Sri Eshwar College of Engineering, Coimbatore, with over 18 years of academic experience. He holds a B.Tech. in Information Technology from Kumaraguru College of Technology, an M.Tech. in Information Technology from Anna University Coimbatore, and a Ph.D. in Information and Communication Engineering from Anna University. His academic and research interests span Cybersecurity, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Data Science, Cloud Computing, and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). His research contributions cover diverse areas, including precision agriculture, autonomous systems, cloud computing, and applied Artificial Intelligence. His notable research includes automated crop and plant disease identification, deep reinforcement learning for autonomous drone navigation, machine learning-based macroeconomic prediction, self-healing resource management in cloud environments, and AI applications in agriculture and aeroponics. Dr. Sampath Kumar has published 25 research papers in international journals and conferences, including publications associated with professional bodies such as IEEE and ISTE. A DGCA-certified Drone Pilot Instructor, he combines academic expertise in UAV systems with hands-on training experience, supporting student learning, research, innovation, and mentorship in drone technology. He has also delivered 20+ guest lectures, Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs), and workshops, including two ATAL Academy Faculty Development Programmes, sharing his expertise with students, faculty members, and academic institutions. Student mentorship and applied learning form a significant part of Dr. Sampath Kumar’s academic contribution. His mentorship has led student teams to national-level recognition, including winning the Smart India Hackathon (SIH) Hardware Edition in 2019 and the SIH Software Edition in 2022. He also mentored a team that reached the finals of the SIH Software Edition in 2024. He has also supported student innovation and entrepreneurship, helping transform student ideas into real-world solutions and startups. Dr. Sampath Kumar is a Senior Member of IEEE and a Life Member of IETE, ISTE and IAENG. He has served as a Session Chair at international conferences and as a peer reviewer for several international journals. In addition to teaching and research, he has actively contributed to academic administration and institutional quality initiatives. He has served as the NBA Coordinator for the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, contributing to accreditation, outcome-based education, and continuous quality improvement processes. His academic approach focuses on combining strong theoretical foundations with practical learning, innovation, research, and real-world problem-solving, with a continued emphasis on preparing students for emerging technologies and professional challenges.
