Dr. S. Sumathi, a seasoned academician with over two decades of expertise holds a Ph.D. in Information and Communication Engineering from Anna University, Chennai, specializing in machine learning algorithms for automatic spam text detection, and continues her academic journey with a current pursuit of BS Programming and Data Science at IIT Madras, driven by a deep interest in coding and data science.
Dr. Sumathi has been instrumental in securing various grants, including Seed Money and sponsorships from the Indian Council of Medical Research and the Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology, for innovative projects in AI and IoT applications, alongside having an extensive research portfolio with numerous publications in prestigious journals and IIT conferences, including Scopus-indexed journals. Additionally, she has organized the Anna University-approved Faculty Development Programme on “Graph Theory and Applications,” chaired Machine Learning tracks at conferences, served as the Remote Center Coordinator for NITTTR, Chandigarh, and actively contributed as a member of the Board of Studies.
Dr. Sumathi has demonstrated outstanding mentorship in Smart India Hackathon and UNESCO-Indo Africa Hackathon, TN Startup Cancer Hackathon where her teams won significant cash awards. She orchestrated coding contests on the Hacker Earth platform and participated in training programs at Amphisoft Technologies and Virtusa Technologies, and mentored students in the India Innovation Challenge Design Contest and multiple Smart India Hackathons, consistently promoting innovation and excellence.
